Supporting DAP During COVID-19

by Smita Sanwardeker, Communications Manager

How can you support DAP during COVID-19?

As we continue to navigate the new and constantly changing landscape of COVID-19, the staff at the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County (DAP) is incredibly grateful for the support of our community. We are blown away by your continued interest in donating to our organization and supporting victims of domestic violence.

We want to share our current needs and some of the changes we’ve made to our donation guidelines to keep you safe and healthy.

Fundraisers Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Designer Bag Bingo fundraiser this year. However, you can still support DAP by purchasing a t-shirt! This shirt was designed by local activist, Robin Matthews. Wearing this shirt will support DAP in two different ways, not only will you raise awareness of domestic violence but 50 percent of all proceeds will support DAP! You can click here to purchase a shirt online OR you can visit our thrift store, Nana’s Attic.

Nana’s Attic Are you familiar with DAP’s thrift store, Nana’s Attic? They are located in the Lawrence Town Park Shopping Center in Broomall, PA. Nana’s is an important resource for our clients and funding source for DAP. ALL proceeds from sales at Nana’s Attic supports the FREE services that DAP offers to victims of dv in Delaware County, PA. You can support Nana’s Attic by donating your new or gently used items and then shopping!

With the current pandemic, we have made a few changes to keep staff, donors, volunteers and customers safe. We have updated hours; masking is required and donors should make an appointment to drop off donations. You can click HERE for current store hours and to make an appointment to drop off.

What can you donate? New or gently used seasonal clothing, purses, accessories, jewelry, shoes, home décor, toys, books or furniture. Call Nana’s Attic at 610-325-0768 for more information.

Volunteer Volunteering opportunities with DAP have changed, but our thrift store continues to need community volunteers with customer service and retail experience! This is a great way to get work experience and support DAP’s cause. Email smarriott@dapdc.org or call 610-565-6272 for more information.

In-Kind Donations To maintain the safety and health of our staff and community, at this time we are only accepting masks, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. Drop offs are only accepted through appointment, email info@dapdc.org or call 610-565-6272.

Gift Cards According to the advisory company CEB TowerGroup, nearly $1 billion in gift cards go unused each year. Are you guilty of not using your gift cards? Now is the time to give them to DAP! Gift cards are an easy way for you to provide direct support to our clients. Your gift card donation can help with groceries, clothing, kitchen supplies, furniture or a meal. Wawa gift cards help clients put gas in their cars, Target gift cards can help a mother buy her child underwear and a VISA gift card can be used toward a kitchen table or mattress. Gift cards can be dropped off by appointment or mailed to us at our main office:

The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, 14 W. 2nd Street, Media, PA 19063

Buy Dinner for the Safe House

DAP’s Safe House provides shelter to victims of dv and their families who are in imminent danger from their abuser. Donating a meal to the Safe House is a way for you to lighten the burden of both the Safe House residents and the staff. We want to make sure we do this in a safe way, so we ask that you email us at info@dapdc.org to coordinate with the Safe House manager.

Financial Donation

Your financial donations make a huge impact on our organization. Some of the ways your monetary donation supports survivors of domestic abuse includes FREE services for clients, transportation, shelter and basic needs such as clothing. Read more about the importance of your financial donation HERE. To make a donation, click HERE.

Thank you! We could not do this without your support.
